Description

Origin
The Yucca filifera, native to the dry climate of the Mexican deserts, has adapted over the years to the harshest conditions and can survive in dry and sandy soil. Furthermore, the Yucca filifera is also common in the arid south of the United States.

Characteristics

The Yucca filifera is a winter-resistant plant with a slow growth pattern. It is distinguished by its robust appearance, with long, narrow, and pointed leaves that can reach 1.5 meters in height. The leaves are blue-green in color and end in black, threadlike filaments. Additionally, the Yucca filifera blooms at the end of spring with bell-shaped cream flowers.

Care

Given its origin, the Yucca filifera requires minimal maintenance. If kept in a pot, well-drained soil is essential to prevent root rot. Due to its drought tolerance, the Yucca filifera requires less water than many other plants. It prefers a full sun position but can also survive in partial shade. During the winter months, the plant should be protected from severe frosts.
