Origin
The Washingtonia robusta ‘Hybrid’ (330-380) is a hybrid variant of the Washingtonia robusta, which is native to the southwestern United States and northern Mexico. This hybrid variant has been developed by crossbreeding with other species of the same genus.
Characteristics
The Washingtonia robusta ‘Hybrid’ distinguishes itself from the original species by its faster growth rate, greater frost resistance, and reduced soil condition requirements. The plant is recognized by its long fan-shaped leaves and its slender, gray trunk that can reach up to 15 meters in height. The flowers are generally white or pale pink and bloom in clusters on stems longer than the leaves.
Care
The Washingtonia robusta ‘Hybrid’ has few environmental requirements, but it prefers a sunny location and well-drained soil. Watering should be moderate; the plant tolerates drought better than excess moisture. Pruning dead leaves promotes the plant’s health.
