Description
Origin
The Washingtonia robusta, also known as the Mexican fan palm, is characterized by its origin in North America. This tropical region provides the ideal climatic conditions for the growth and development of this plant. The plant is named after George Washington, the first president of the United States.
Characteristics
The Washingtonia robusta is distinguished by its impressive height, ranging between 275 and 325 centimeters. The trunk is straight, slender, and topped with a dense crown of fan-shaped leaves, which are a deep green color. The leaves can reach up to 1 meter in length. In summer, the Washingtonia robusta blooms with small white flowers that are grouped in large clusters on the plant.
Care
For the care of the Washingtonia robusta, it is important to place the plant in a well-lit location. This palm requires plenty of water, especially during the growth period in summer. The plant cannot withstand temperatures below -6°C and should therefore be protected from frost in winter. When planting, it should be taken into account that this type of palm has a deep root system and therefore needs sufficient space to develop.
