Description
Origin
Vanda hybrids are part of the Orchid family. They are native to the tropical regions of Asia, including the Himalayas, India, southern China, and Indonesia. They grow in these regions both on the ground and as epiphytes on trees, extracting moisture and nutrients from the air and rain.
Characteristics
Vanda hybrids are known for their magnificent showy flowers. Colors vary from pink, white, and purple to blue, and are often spotted or striped. The flowers are generally round and grow on long, tall stems. The leaves are thick, fleshy, and lance-shaped. The plant can reach a height of 60 to 150 cm, depending on the variety.
Care
Vanda hybrids need a lot of light, but not direct sunlight. They appreciate high air humidity and temperatures between 20 and 30 degrees Celsius. During the growing season, they need a lot of water, but make sure excess water can drain easily. The plants should be fed with special orchid nutrients rich in water.
