Description
Origin
The Stenocarpus sinuatus, also known as the firewheel tree, is a tree native to Australia. It is found along the east coast of the country, from Mackay in the north to the Blue Mountains in the south.
Features
The Stenocarpus Sinuatus is an evergreen tree that can reach heights of 15 to 30 meters in its natural environment. The tree is best known for its remarkable flowers, which are elongated and grow in a wheel-like structure. They are typically red or orange, although there are also varieties with yellow or white flowers. The flowering period is between June and November. The leaves of the Stenocarpus sinuatus are glossy, dark green, and wavy.
Care
The Stenocarpus sinuatus prefers well-drained, acidic to neutral soils. In cultivation, the tree can be grown in full sun or partial shade, but it performs best in a sunny location. The tree is drought-resistant but will bloom better if it receives water regularly, especially during hot and dry periods. It is also recommended to prune the plant regularly to control its shape and size.
