Description

Origin
The Spathiphyllum ‘Sweet Lauretta’, also known as the Peace Lily, has its origin in the humid tropical forests of Central and South America. It is a plant species in the Araceae family. The popularity of this plant increased in the 19th century when it was brought to Europe and cultivated as an indoor ornamental plant.

Characteristics

The ‘Sweet Lauretta’ is distinguished by its dark green, glossy leaves and its remarkable white flowers, which give an impression of peace. The flowers can bloom year-round but are particularly prominent in late spring. The plant can reach a height of 40 centimeters. The flowers emerge from a spadix, a type of flower stalk, which is surrounded by a white bract.

Care

The ‘Sweet Lauretta’ requires a shaded to semi-shaded location with high air humidity, similar to its original rainforest habitat. The plant has a medium water need and does not like excessive watering. It is important to fertilize the plant regularly for optimal growth and flowering. A temperature between 18 and 22 degrees Celsius is ideal for the ‘Sweet Lauretta’.
