Description
Origin
The Spathiphyllum ‘Sensation’ originates from Central and South America. This green gem belongs to the Araceae family. The plant is also generally known as the ‘Peace Lily’, but this name typically refers to smaller varieties of Spathiphyllum.
Characteristics
The Spathiphyllum ‘Sensation’ is known for its impressive size. It is the largest of the Spathiphyllum species and can reach up to 1.5 meters in height. The leaves are glossy, dark green, and elongated in shape. The contrast between the bright white flower – which resembles a ‘spike’ around the central ‘spadix’ – and the dark green foliage adds to the visual appeal of this species.
Care
The Spathiphyllum ‘Sensation’ prefers a location with indirect light and does not tolerate direct sunlight. It needs regular watering and the soil should be kept moist, but not waterlogged. During the growing season, which usually includes spring and summer, this plant requires regular nutrient supply with a standard indoor plant fertilizer. For optimal growth and flowering, constant air humidity is also beneficial.
