Description
Origin
The Spathiphyllum ‘Hybrids’, known as Spathiphyllum, is a species of plants native to the tropical regions of America and Southeast Asia. They are part of the Araceae family, which includes more than a hundred species. The plant is primarily found in tropical forests and swamps where high humidity prevails.
Characteristics
The most characteristic element of the Spathiphyllum ‘Hybrids’ is its pure white bracts that closely resemble flower petals. When these bracts bloom, they encase a spathe, a typical inflorescence of the Araceae. The plant has lush green foliage growth, with leaves that are glossy and leathery in appearance. Depending on the variety, the plant can reach a height of 50 to 120 cm.
Care
For optimal growth of the Spathiphyllum ‘Hybrids’, the plant prefers a spot in partial shade or indirect sunlight, avoiding direct light to prevent leaf burn. The soil should remain moist, but never completely saturated with water, as the roots could rot. The plant has the added benefit of purifying the air, contributing to a healthier indoor living environment. Finally, it is important to mention that an annual dose of fertilizer promotes the blooming of the Spathiphyllum ‘Hybrids’.
