Description

Origin
The Schefflera actinophylla ‘Amate’, also known as the umbrella plant, originates from the subtropical and tropical rainforests of Australia. This plant can be found in the wild along riverbanks and in rainforests. The Schefflera actinophylla ‘Amate’ is part of the ivy family (Araliaceae).

Characteristics

The Schefflera actinophylla ‘Amate’ has a remarkably characteristic appearance with green leaves arranged in groups, each group having 7 to 16 small leaves, giving the plant its typical umbrella look. The plant can reach a height of 15 meters in its natural environment, although it generally remains much smaller in domestic conditions. During the growth period, the plant produces red or pink flowers, which grow in clusters arranged in rays.

Maintenance

Proper care of the Schefflera actinophylla ‘Amate’ includes a well-lit to semi-shaded position, preferably without direct afternoon sun. The plant needs regular watering, but it is essential to avoid water accumulation to prevent root rot. The ideal indoor temperature for the ‘Amate’ ranges between 18 and 22 degrees Celsius. The plant also requires a high humidity level, which can be achieved by regular misting.
