Origin
The Sansevieria zeylanica ‘Narrow’, also known as ‘Snake Plant’, originates from West Africa. It is a plant species that primarily grows in dry areas, such as savannahs and desert edges. This Sansevieria species is named after the island of Sri Lanka, once known as Zeylanica.
Characteristics
The Sansevieria zeylanica ‘Narrow’ is known for its long, narrow, dark green leaves, which have a striking pattern in light green tones. The leaves grow from the base of the plant and can reach up to 70 to 100 cm in length. With its sturdy leaves and upright, tight growth, this plant has a strong architectural appearance. A mature plant can reach a considerable width, making it a striking presence in any interior.
Care
Little maintenance is required for the Sansevieria zeylanica ‘Narrow’. The plant has a high drought resistance, so there is no need to water it regularly. It is important that the soil dries out completely between waterings, to avoid root rot. The plant prefers indirect light but can also survive in lower light levels. However, be cautious with too much direct sunlight as it can burn the leaves.
