Description
Origin
The Sansevieria trifasciata ‘Moonshine’, also known as the snake plant, originates from West Africa. It grows in dry and rocky areas where it has adapted to tough conditions. The plant was brought to Europe by traders and found its place in our interiors due to its easy maintenance and decorative appearance.
Characteristics
The characteristics of the Sansevieria trifasciata ‘Moonshine’ are its robust, upright leaves that are gray-green in color. These leaves are thick and leathery with horizontal stripes and have a pointed shape. The plant grows slowly and can reach a height of about 75 centimeters. The ‘Moonshine’ differs from the classic Sansevieria trifasciata by its lighter, almost silver shade.
Maintenance
The Sansevieria trifasciata ‘Moonshine’ requires little maintenance and is thus very suitable for beginners. It thrives best in bright but indirect light and can also survive in lower light conditions. The plant needs little water, even less in winter, to prevent root rot. Well-drained soil is essential for the health of this plant. Periodic repotting can promote growth.
