Description
Origin
The Sansevieria trifasciata ‘Laurentii’ originates from West Africa. It grows in a dry climate, similar to the savanna, where humidity levels vary. This plant is traditionally cultivated for its fibers, which are used in ropes, baskets, and textile art.
Characteristics
The Sansevieria trifasciata ‘Laurentii’ is distinguished by its long pointed leaves that grow vertically. These are dark green with characteristic light yellow edges. The leaves usually form a pattern reminiscent of tiger stripes. The plant occasionally blooms with fragrant green-white flowers.
Care
A Sansevieria trifasciata ‘Laurentii’ requires minimal care. The plant can thrive in full sun as well as complete shade, but performs best in indirect light. The plant has a very low water requirement and should be in completely dry soil between waterings. Excess water can cause root rot, which can be harmful to the plant. A regular supply of nutrients is beneficial during the growing season but should be reduced in winter.
