Origin
The Sansevieria trifasciata ‘Black Coral’, also known as the Mother-in-law’s tongue, originates from West Africa, particularly in Nigeria and the Congo. This plant belongs to the Asparagaceae family and has been found in various tropical and subtropical regions worldwide.
Characteristics
The Black Coral is a specific type of Sansevieria with almost black foliage. It grows upright with long pointed leaves marked by horizontal stripes of light and dark green. This species can reach considerable heights, up to 90 centimeters. It is a very hardy plant that thrives well in different conditions.
Care
Caring for the Black Coral is relatively simple and does not require much maintenance. The plant prefers bright, indirect light, but can also survive in less lit conditions. Once well-rooted, sporadic watering is sufficient. However, excessive water must be drained, as too much water can cause root rot. The Black Coral can withstand dry air and is therefore suited to indoor climates with central heating.
