Description
Origin
Rhipsalis heteroclada originates from the tropical forests of the Philippines. This exceptional plant belongs to the cactus family, but is distinguished by its hanging growth habit. In its natural environment, Rhipsalis heteroclada is primarily found on tree trunks and slopes.
Characteristics
Rhipsalis heteroclada has a playful appearance thanks to its long thin and branched stems. The plant forms a kind of hanging clusters, with a green to yellow-green color. The stems are dense and translucent with small white tips at the ends. During the flowering period, small cream-colored flowers appear on the stems.
Care
Caring for a Rhipsalis heteroclada requires well-draining soil and a spot with bright but indirect light. Although it is a type of cactus, it does not have the same drought tolerance as many others. Therefore, regular watering is essential, but avoid waterlogging the soil. During winter months, it is advised to reduce watering but not completely.
