Description

Origin
The Pseudolarix amabilis, more commonly known as the Golden Larch, originates from China. The species is mainly found in the provinces of Zhejiang and Jiangxi, where it grows on mountainous terrain at altitudes ranging from 500 to 1,000 meters.

Characteristics

The Golden Larch is an evergreen conifer with distinctive bark that peels off in small scales. The needles of this tree are dark green with a yellowish underside and turn golden in the fall, which gives the tree its name. The tree produces cones in the spring that can reach up to 6 centimeters.

Care

The Golden Larch requires a sunny position with well-drained soil. The tree can reach a height of 20 to 30 meters and needs plenty of space to grow. Regular pruning is recommended to maintain the desired shape of the tree. During dry periods, the tree needs more water, but it does not tolerate prolonged drought or stagnant water.
