Description
Origin
The Polyscias ‘Balfouriana’, also known as Geranium Aralia, originates in the subtropical Southeast Asia and Pacific. The plant belongs to the Araliaceae family, making it a relative of the famous Schefflera and Fatsia plants.
Characteristics
The Polyscias ‘Balfouriana’ is a shrub-like plant with dark green, glossy leaves that have a rounded shape. These leaves, which gather in clusters of three, have a unique silvery color on their underside. The plant can reach a height of about 1 to 2 meters, depending on the conditions. It grows relatively slowly and has a stylized, compact form, making it an ideal indoor plant.
Care
The Polyscias ‘Balfouriana’ requires well-drained soil and optimal light conditions, although it cannot tolerate direct sunlight. It prefers a moderate to warm climate and a high humidity environment. It is recommended to water the plant regularly but moderately, ensuring that the soil dries slightly between waterings. Overwatering should be avoided to prevent root rot.
