Description
Origin
The Pleomele, officially Dracaena ‘Anita Variegata’, originates from Africa, Central America, and Asia. These are warm and tropical regions, from which the plant has spread around the world. The plant has become particularly popular as a houseplant. It belongs to the Asparagaceae family and is closely related to the Yucca.
Features
The Pleomele ‘Anita Variegata’ is distinguished by its long, narrow green-white leaves that curve obliquely outward. The plant’s stem stands upright, forming a bushy and full crown. The way the Pleomele grows is compact. It can reach a maximum height of about two meters, but its growth is relatively slow.
Care
A Pleomele requires a bright location but can also tolerate partial shade. Direct sunlight is less well tolerated. The plant prefers a moderate temperature, provided it is more constant than cooler temperatures. As for watering, this plant has moderate needs: make sure the soil can slightly dry out between waterings. Too much water can cause root rot, to which this plant is sensitive.
