Description

Origin
The Philodendron ‘Prince of Orange’ is a tropical plant native to the rainforests of South America. The ‘Prince of Orange’ is part of the Araceae family, a large and diverse genus of plants that also includes the popular Monstera and Anthurium. This species gets its name from the bright orange color of its new leaves, reminiscent of the Dutch royal family, the House of Orange.

Characteristics

The ‘Prince of Orange’ stands out from other Philodendrons with its dynamic color change. The new leaves unfurl in a vivid orange hue and gradually turn dark green as they mature. The plant can grow up to about 60 centimeters in height. The large leaves are typical of the Araceae family and give the plant a robust and lush appearance. Additionally, this Philodendron does not exhibit creeping or hanging growth, but rather grows upright, making it an ideal potted plant.

Care

The ‘Prince of Orange’ prefers a bright to semi-shaded location but should avoid extreme direct sunlight to prevent leaf burn. The plant thrives at a consistent temperature between 20 and 30 degrees Celsius. Generally, it does not require abundant water; just keep the soil slightly moist. During the growing season, from spring to autumn, the plant can benefit from regular fertilization. Although the plant is quite resilient, overwatering and excessively cold temperatures will lead to discolored and drooping leaves.
