Description
Origin
The Philodendron ‘Green Princess’ is a tropical climbing plant native to South America. This plant is widely spread throughout the Americas, from Argentina to the Caribbean. It thrives well in tropical forests where humidity is high, as it naturally grows in moist environments.
Characteristics
The Philodendron ‘Green Princess’ is recognized by its unique shiny green leaves, which can reach up to 30 centimeters in length. The leaves are heart-shaped and glossy, with a dark green color that effectively absorbs light. The plant can grow both as an upright plant and a climbing plant and shows strong aerial root growth.
Care
Despite its tropical origin, the Philodendron ‘Green Princess’ is relatively easy to care for. The plant requires a well-drained type of soil, can thrive in indirect light as well as in partial shade, and requires moderate watering, where the soil should slightly dry out between waterings. It is also recommended to regularly mist the leaves with water to increase humidity and remove dust. The plant is sensitive to low temperatures and should therefore be kept indoors during winter.
