Origin
The Pennisetum ‘Red Head’, also known as Fountain Grass, originates from the warm regions of Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. This type of grass naturally grows in open and sunny areas. Due to its drought resistance, the ‘Red Head’ is often found in dry climates with minimal rainfall.
Characteristics
The Pennisetum ‘Red Head’ is characterized by its graceful appearance and stunning red panicles. It grows densely and bushy, reaching a height of 90 cm to 1.2 m. The flowering of this grass species begins in late summer to early autumn with panicles that can range from dark red to burgundy. Despite its exotic origin, the ‘Red Head’ is hardy and can withstand temperatures as low as -20 degrees Celsius.
Care
The care for Pennisetum ‘Red Head’ is relatively simple and requires little maintenance. This plant prefers sunlight but can tolerate some shade. It adapts well to different soil types, but it prefers well-drained soil and regular watering is recommended. Fertilizing the ‘Red Head’ is not necessary, but it can promote growth and blooming.
