Description

Origin
Murraya paniculata, also known as Orange Jasmine or Kamini, originates from Southeast Asia. It is a plant species belonging to the Rutaceae family and is often found in subtropical regions such as India, China, Taiwan, and the Philippines.

Characteristics

Murraya paniculata is a perennial, dense, and bushy plant that can grow up to seven meters tall. Its glossy leaves are dark green in color, with a strong odor when crushed. The flowers, which often bloom after rain, are small, white, intensely fragrant, and resemble jasmine flowers. The plant also produces small red-orange fruits that are attractive to birds.

Care

Murraya paniculata requires minimal care and withstands most soil conditions, although it grows best in well-drained soil with moderate watering. While the plant can grow in both full sun and partial shade, it produces the most flowers in a sunny position. Pruning is recommended to encourage growth and keep the bush compact, but it is not strictly necessary for the plant to flower. The plant is slightly frost-resistant, but protection from intense frost is recommended.
