Description

Origin
The Monstera obliqua is a climbing plant naturally found in the humid tropical forests of South America. The plant is widespread from Peru to Brazil and from Panama to Colombia. The species grows in the lower layers of the rainforest, where humidity is high and the leaves are not too exposed to direct sunlight.

Characteristics

Known as the Swiss Cheese Vine, the Monstera obliqua is famous for its distinctive, heavily cut leaves. The leaves are heart-shaped with holes or cuts distributed across the entire surface, making the plant easily recognizable. The plant has aerial roots and can easily cling to other trees.

Care

The Monstera obliqua prefers a bright spot where direct sunlight should be avoided, similar to its natural rainforest environment. The soil should remain slightly moist, without the plant being in water. It is important to water the plant regularly to mimic the humid conditions of the rainforest. During the growth period, from spring to autumn, the plant needs nutrients on a regular basis.
