Description
Origin
The Miscanthus sinensis ‘Gracillimus’, also known as the ornamental grass ‘Gracillimus’, is a species native to East Asia. It is primarily found in China, Japan, and Korea. In these regions, this plant grows in open, dry to moist, and well-drained areas.
Characteristics
The Miscanthus sinensis ‘Gracillimus’ is recognizable by its narrow, elegant, and abundantly flowering leaves. These leaves take on a bright green color in the spring and turn a magnificent golden hue in the fall. The plant is characterized by its elegant and majestic appearance and can reach a height of 150 to 200 centimeters. From August to November, the plant bears beautiful white flower panicles.
Care
The Miscanthus sinensis ‘Gracillimus’ requires little maintenance. The plant prefers a location in full sun but can also thrive in partial shade. Although the plant is drought-resistant, regular watering is recommended during dry periods. Fertilization is best in the spring. An annual pruning of the plant in March allows it to regrow well in the following season.
