Description
Origin
The Miscanthus sinensis ‘Flamingo’ originates from East Asia. It is naturally found in large parts of China, Japan, and Korea. This grass species adapts well to different climatic conditions.
Characteristics
The Miscanthus sinensis ‘Flamingo’ owes its name to the pink plumes that resemble flamingo feathers. These graceful plumes appear from August until deep winter. The plant can reach impressive heights of 200 to 250 cm. The leaves of this grass species are green and turn a yellowish-brown color in autumn.
Maintenance
When planting Miscanthus sinensis ‘Flamingo’, it is important to consider sufficient sun exposure, as the plant likes sunny places. The plant also prefers well-drained, humus-rich soil. It is not demanding about soil type but does not tolerate overly wet locations. Prune the plant in the spring to about 10 cm above the ground to promote fresh and abundant new growth.
