Description
Origin
The Miscanthus sinensis ‘Flamingo’ originates from East Asia. It is naturally found in large parts of China, Japan, and Korea. It is a grass species that adapts well to different climatic conditions.
Characteristics
The Miscanthus sinensis ‘Flamingo’ owes its name to the pink plumes that resemble flamingo feathers. These graceful plumes appear from August until deep winter. The plant can reach impressive heights, from 200 to 250 cm. The leaves of this grass species are green and take on a yellowish-brown color in the fall.
Care
When planting the Miscanthus sinensis ‘Flamingo’, it is important to ensure sufficient sun exposure, as the plant likes sunny locations. The plant also prefers well-drained, humus-rich soil. It is not demanding regarding soil type but does not tolerate very wet locations. Prune the plant in spring to about 10 cm above the ground to encourage fresh and abundant new growth.
