Description

Origin
The Malus domestica, better known as the apple tree, originates from Central Asia. The tree was domesticated thousands of years ago and spread worldwide with the help of humans. Fossils prove that wild apple trees have existed for millions of years, long before humans began horticulture.

Characteristics

The peculiarity of Malus domestica lies in its magnificent white and pink flowers that appear in spring. Shortly after, the fruits begin to develop, and in the fall, the apples can be harvested. The leaves are oval-shaped with a serrated edge. The tree grows best in moderate climates and can reach a height of 2 to 12 meters, depending on the variety.

Care

The Malus domestica requires proper care to thrive. The tree needs full sun and well-drained soil. During dry periods, it is important to water regularly. Pruning is an important part of upkeep and is usually done at the end of winter or the beginning of spring, before new flowering.
