Description
Origin
Licuala grandis is a native species of palm tree, originally from the low and humid forests of the Solomon Islands and Vanuatu in the South Pacific.
Characteristics
Licuala grandis is characterized by its very large fan-shaped leaves, which have a lovely dark green color. With its remarkable leaves, which can reach up to 2 meters in diameter, this species is a striking feature in any plant collection. The stem of this palm is relatively short, usually reaching up to about 3 meters in height. Unlike many other palms, Licuala grandis grows quite slowly and takes some time to reach its full size.
Care
For the optimal growth and development of Licuala grandis, a humid environment with high air humidity is essential. This plant prefers a shaded spot and does not tolerate strong direct sunlight. Additionally, this type of palm requires a constant temperature, preferably between 20 to 30 degrees Celsius. Regarding its water needs, Licuala grandis is quite easy to care for. The plant likes moist soil but does not tolerate waterlogging. Therefore, make sure that excess water can always drain well.
