Origin
The Hoya wayetii ‘Tricolor’ is a plant native to Southeast Asia, where it primarily grows in the rainforest. In the Philippines, where the plant is widespread, it is also called ‘Porcelain Flower’ or ‘Wax Plant’.
Characteristics
The Hoya wayetii ‘Tricolor’ is characterized by its elongated and fleshy leaves to the touch, with a soft texture similar to suede. The leaves are green on top and take on a pink to burgundy red color underneath. Also notable about this plant are its remarkable flowers; bright white with a pink to purple center.
Care
The Hoya wayetii ‘Tricolor’ generally requires a bright indirect environment and high relative humidity. The plants appreciate a well-drained soil mix, enriched with organic matter and sufficient ventilation. During the growth period – in late spring and summer – the plant needs more water, while in the rest period, in late autumn and winter, it needs less water.
