Origin
The Ficus microcarpa ‘Compacta’, known as the Indian rubber tree, originates from the Far East, particularly in Southeast Asia and certain parts of Australia. It is a subspecies of the well-known and widely spread Ficus microcarpa.
Characteristics
The characteristics of the Ficus microcarpa ‘Compacta’ are its small, dark green, shiny, and tight leaves, giving it a compact and dense appearance. In its natural habitat, this tree can reach significant heights, but indoors, it generally maintains a manageable height of 1 to 2 meters. Interestingly, despite its name, the ‘Compacta’ variety actually has larger and more defined leaves than the normal Ficus microcarpa.
Care
The care of the Ficus microcarpa ‘Compacta’ requires regular watering, especially during the growth period. However, it is important to avoid letting the soil become too wet. This ficus prefers indirect sunlight and an airy space with a temperature between 16 and 24°C. If the plant shows signs of discoloration or leaf drop, it may indicate an excess or lack of water.
