Description

Origin
The Ficus microcarpa ‘Compacta’, known as the Indian rubber tree, finds its origin in the Far East, particularly in Southeast Asia and parts of Australia. It is a subspecies of the well-known and widespread Ficus microcarpa.

Characteristics

The features of the Ficus microcarpa ‘Compacta’ are its small, dark green, shiny, and close-set leaves, which give it a compact and dense appearance. In its natural habitat, this tree can reach significant heights, but indoors, it generally maintains a manageable height of 1 to 2 meters. Interestingly, despite its name, the ‘Compacta’ variety actually has larger and more pronounced leaves than the regular Ficus microcarpa.

Care

Caring for the Ficus microcarpa ‘Compacta’ requires regular watering, especially during the growth period. However, it is important to avoid allowing the soil to become too wet. This ficus prefers indirect sunlight and an airy space with a temperature between 16 and 24°C. If the plant shows signs of discoloration or leaf drop, this may indicate an excess or lack of water.
