Description

Origin
The Ficus microcarpa ‘Compacta’, known as the Indian rubber tree, originates from the Far East, notably in Southeast Asia and parts of Australia. It is a subspecies of the well-known and widespread Ficus microcarpa.

Characteristics

The characteristics of the Ficus microcarpa ‘Compacta’ are its small, dark green, glossy, and tightly packed leaves, giving it a compact and dense appearance. In its natural habitat, this tree can reach significant heights, but indoors, it generally maintains a manageable height of 1 to 2 meters. It is interesting to note that, despite its name, the ‘Compacta’ variety actually has larger and more pronounced leaves than the normal Ficus microcarpa.

Care

The care of the Ficus microcarpa ‘Compacta’ requires regular watering, especially during the growth period. However, it is important to avoid the soil becoming too damp. This ficus prefers indirect sunlight and a well-ventilated space with a temperature between 16 and 24°C. If the plant shows signs of discoloration or leaf drop, it may indicate either excess or lack of water.
