Description

Origin
The Ficus microcarpa ‘Compacta’, known as the Indian rubber tree, originates from the Far East, particularly in Southeast Asia and parts of Australia. It is a subspecies of the well-known and widely spread Ficus microcarpa.

Characteristics

The characteristics of the Ficus microcarpa ‘Compacta’ are its small, dark green, shiny, and tight leaves, which give it a compact and dense appearance. In its natural habitat, this tree can reach significant heights, but indoors, it generally maintains a manageable height of 1 to 2 meters. It is interesting to note that despite its name, the ‘Compacta’ variety actually has larger and more pronounced leaves than the regular Ficus microcarpa.

Care

Caring for the Ficus microcarpa ‘Compacta’ requires regular watering, especially during the growth period. However, it’s important to avoid making the soil too moist. This ficus prefers indirect sunlight and a well-ventilated space with a temperature between 16 and 24°C. If the plant shows signs of discoloration or leaf drop, it may indicate overwatering or underwatering.
