Description

Origin
The Ficus microcarpa ‘Compacta’, known as the Indian rubber tree, originates from the Far East, particularly in Southeast Asia and parts of Australia. It is a subspecies of the Ficus microcarpa, well-known and widespread.

Characteristics

The characteristics of the Ficus microcarpa ‘Compacta’ are its small, dark green, glossy, and tightly arranged leaves, giving it a compact and dense appearance. In its natural habitat, this tree can reach significant heights, but indoors, it generally maintains a manageable height of 1 to 2 meters. It is interesting to note that, despite its name, the ‘Compacta’ variety actually has larger and more marked leaves than the regular Ficus microcarpa.

Maintenance

The maintenance of the Ficus microcarpa ‘Compacta’ requires regular watering, especially during the growing period. However, it is important to avoid the soil from becoming too wet. This ficus prefers indirect sunlight and an airy space with a temperature between 16 and 24°C. If the plant shows signs of discoloration or dropping leaves, it may indicate excess or lack of water.
