Description

Origin
The Ficus lyrata, also known in French as the common name Fiddle Leaf Fig, originates in West Africa. It is found in tropical forests, particularly from Cameroon to Côte d’Ivoire. It belongs to the Moraceae family, which are the Moraceae. In the wild, the Ficus lyrata can become a tree reaching up to 12 meters in height.

Characteristics

The Ficus lyrata is popular due to its remarkable, wide leaves that resemble a violin shape, hence its nickname. Its shiny leaves are thick and have striking veins that contrast with the vibrant green color of the leaf. It is a robust indoor plant and air purifier that thrives perfectly indoors. Its growth is relatively slow, but with proper care, it can reach several meters in height at home.

Care

The Ficus lyrata requires specific care for optimal growth. It needs plenty of indirect sunlight and enjoys a warm and humid environment similar to its original habitat. Additionally, the plant requires good water management, but without the roots sitting in water. The soil must be well-drained to prevent root rot. During the growth period in spring and summer, it is necessary to fertilize the plant regularly.
