The Ficus elastica ‘Robusta’, better known as the rubber plant, originates from Southeast Asia. This plant grows wild in the rainforests of India, Indonesia, and Malaysia, among others. With colonization, this plant found its way to other parts of the world.
Characteristics
The Ficus elastica ‘Robusta’ is a popular houseplant due to its typical features. The plant has large, glossy leaves that are dark green in color. Additionally, in good conditions, the plant can reach a height of 30 meters, but indoors it usually remains limited to a height of 2 to 3 meters. The trunk of the Ficus elastica ‘Robusta’ is thick and woody.
