Origin
The Ficus cyathistipula originally comes from the tropical regions of Africa, specifically from central and western parts. This plant, which can be found in many different habitats, particularly inhabits tropical forests, mangroves, and near rivers. Also known as the African fig tree, this species is an important part of African flora.


Characteristics

The Ficus cyathistipula is a shrub or a small evergreen tree that can grow up to 12 meters high. The characteristics of this ficus are elliptic to oval leaves, which are brilliantly green and can reach up to 18 cm in length. The plant produces what are referred to as figs, which are actually flowers encapsulated in a protective structure. These are small, round, and grow in pairs. They begin green but turn red as they mature.


Care

The Ficus cyathistipula requires a warm environment and does not tolerate temperatures below 15°C well. The plant needs well-drained soil and requires regular watering, especially during the growing period. Although the plant likes light, direct sun should be avoided as it can damage the leaves. The plant can be grown indoors or outdoors but should be moved inside when the temperature begins to drop.
