Origin
The Ficus cyathistipula originally comes from the tropical regions of Africa, specifically from the central and western parts. This plant, which can be found in many different habitats, notably inhabits tropical forests, mangroves, and near rivers. Also known as the African fig tree, this species is an important part of African flora.

Characteristics

The Ficus cyathistipula is a shrub or small evergreen tree that can reach up to 12 meters in height. Characteristics of this ficus include elliptical to oval leaves, which are brilliantly green and can grow up to 18 cm long. The plant produces what are called figs, which are actually flowers encased in a protective structure. These are small, round, and grow in pairs. They start green but turn red as they mature.

Care

The Ficus cyathistipula requires a warm environment and does not tolerate temperatures below 15 °C well. The plant needs well-drained soil and requires regular watering, especially during the growing period. Although the plant loves light, direct sunlight should be avoided as it can damage the leaves. The plant can be grown indoors or outdoors, but it should be moved indoors when temperatures start to drop.
