Description
Origin
The Dypsis lutescens, better known as the Areca Palm, is a popular indoor plant originating from Madagascar. It is also known for its pale yellow stems and leaves.
Characteristics
The main characteristics of the Dypsis lutescens are its graceful, feathery leaves and its air-purifying qualities. In its natural habitat, the plant can reach up to 10 meters in height, but as an indoor plant, it is often limited to a height of about 2 meters. It is a fast-growing plant, usually with multiple stems.
Care
Caring for the Dypsis lutescens requires some dedication. The plant needs a bright location, but not in direct sunlight. Additionally, the plant requires high air humidity, and the soil should be kept at least moist, without the plant sitting in water. During the growth period from March to October, the plant needs a dose of indoor plant food every two weeks.
