Description

Origin
The Dracaena surculosa, also known as the “Gold Dust Dracaena”, is native to West Africa. In this region, this species of exotic plant is primarily found in tropical forests. It grows mainly in the shade, under the dense canopy of trees, where it is protected from direct sunlight.

Characteristics

The Dracaena surculosa is a leafy plant distinguished by its bright colors and remarkable leaf pattern. The leaves are generally dark with light yellow spots, resulting from an irregular formation of chlorophyll. These leaves grow in a spiral around the plant’s stem. With the right conditions, Dracaena surculosa can reach a height of about 150 centimeters.

Care

The Dracaena surculosa needs plenty of light near the window, but not direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves. It is necessary to water regularly, but avoid at all costs letting the roots stay too long in water as this can lead to root rot. In winter, watering the plant once every two weeks is sufficient, while in summer, weekly watering is recommended.
