Description

Origin
The Dracaena surculosa, also known as the “gold dust dracaena,” originates from West Africa. In this region, this exotic plant species is primarily found in tropical forests. It mainly grows in the shade, under the dense canopy of trees, where it is protected from direct sunlight.

Characteristics

The Dracaena surculosa is a leafy plant distinguished by its vibrant colors and remarkable leaf pattern. The leaves are generally dark with light yellow spots, resulting from an irregular chlorophyll formation. These leaves grow in a spiral around the plant’s trunk. Under the right conditions, the Dracaena surculosa can reach a height of about 150 centimeters.

Care

The Dracaena surculosa needs plenty of light near the window, but not direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves. Regular watering is necessary, but avoid at all costs allowing the roots to stay too long in water as this can lead to root rot. In winter, it is sufficient to water the plant once every two weeks, while in summer, weekly watering is recommended.
