Description

Origin
The Dracaena surculosa, also known as “gold dust dracaena,” originates from West Africa. In this region, this species of exotic plant is mainly found in tropical forests. It primarily grows in the shade, under the dense canopy of trees, where it is protected from direct sunlight.

Characteristics

The Dracaena surculosa is a foliage plant characterized by its bright colors and remarkable leaf pattern. The leaves are generally dark with light yellow spots, resulting from an irregular formation of chlorophyll. These leaves grow in a spiral around the plant’s cane. Under the right conditions, Dracaena surculosa can reach a height of about 150 centimeters.

Care

The Dracaena surculosa requires plenty of light near the window, but no direct sunlight, which can burn the leaves. It is necessary to water it regularly, but at all costs, avoid letting the roots stay in water too long as this can lead to root rot. In winter, it is sufficient to water the plant once every two weeks, while in summer, weekly watering is recommended.
