Description

Origin
The Dracaena surculosa, also known as the “gold dust dracaena”, originates from West Africa. In this region, this exotic plant species is primarily found in tropical forests. It mostly grows in the shade, under the dense canopy of trees, where it is protected from direct sunlight.

Characteristics

The Dracaena surculosa is a leafy plant that stands out for its bright colors and notable leaf pattern. The leaves are generally dark with light yellow spots, resulting from an irregular formation of chlorophyll. These leaves grow in a spiral around the plant’s stem. Under the right conditions, Dracaena surculosa can reach a height of about 150 centimeters.

Care

The Dracaena surculosa needs plenty of light near the window, but not direct sunlight, which can burn the leaves. It is necessary to water it regularly, but at all costs avoid letting the roots stay too long in water as this can cause root rot. In winter, it is sufficient to water the plant once every two weeks, while in summer, weekly watering is recommended.
