Origin
Dracaena surculosa, also known as “Gold Dust Dracaena,” originates from West Africa. In this region, this exotic plant species is primarily found in tropical forests. It mainly grows in the shade, under the dense canopy of trees, where it is protected from direct sunlight.
Characteristics
Dracaena surculosa is a foliage plant distinguished by its vibrant colors and remarkable leaf pattern. The leaves are generally dark with light yellow spots, resulting from an irregular formation of chlorophyll. These leaves spiral around the stalk of the plant. Under the right conditions, Dracaena surculosa can reach a height of about 150 centimeters.
Care
Dracaena surculosa needs plenty of light near the window but not direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves. It needs to be watered regularly, but avoid letting the roots sit in water for too long as this can cause root rot. In winter, watering the plant once every two weeks is sufficient, while in summer, weekly watering is recommended.
