Description

Origin
The Dracaena surculosa, also known as the “gold dust dracaena,” originates from West Africa. In this region, this exotic plant species is mainly found in tropical forests. It primarily grows in the shade, under the dense tree canopy, where it is protected from direct sunlight.

Characteristics

The Dracaena surculosa is a leafy plant distinguished by its bright colors and remarkable leaf pattern. The leaves are generally dark with light yellow spots, resulting from irregular chlorophyll formation. These leaves grow in a spiral around the plant’s stem. Under the right conditions, the Dracaena surculosa can reach a height of about 150 centimeters.

Care

The Dracaena surculosa needs plenty of light near the window but not direct sunlight, which can burn the leaves. Regular watering is necessary, but avoid keeping the roots in water for too long at all costs, as this can lead to root rot. In winter, it is sufficient to water the plant once every two weeks, while in summer, weekly watering is recommended.
