Description

Origin
The Dracaena surculosa, also known as the ‘Gold dust dracaena,’ originates from West Africa. It is common in countries such as Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, and Nigeria, as well as in tropical regions of Asia. The plant typically grows in dense forests and on the rich, humid soils of these tropical regions.

Characteristics

The Dracaena surculosa is a compact, evergreen plant that can reach about 1.2 meters in height. The leaves feature a unique pattern of cream spots, hence the nickname ‘Gold dust.’ The leaves can reach a length of about 6 to 15 centimeters. In spring and early summer, the plant may also produce small, fragrant white flowers.

Care

The Dracaena surculosa, like most tropical plants, prefers a warm and humid environment and plenty of indirect light. Direct sunlight can scorch the leaves. The plant should be watered regularly and evenly, but it is important to let the soil dry out between waterings to avoid root rot. Although the plant can adapt to slightly cooler temperatures, an optimal growing environment is between 16 and 24 degrees Celsius.
