The Dracaena fragrans ‘Riki’ is a species of tree native to tropical Africa, particularly in regions of Sudan and Mozambique. This species belongs to the Asparagaceae family. Also known as the Dragon Tree, this plant has a rich history and has been cultivated for centuries for many different uses.
Characteristics
The Dracaena fragrans ‘Riki’ is an air-purifying indoor plant that stands out for its narrow leaves and tall growth. The ‘Riki’s leaves are glossy, dark green in color, and have a leathery texture. These leaves can grow up to 90 cm in length. The plant can reach a height of 6 meters, but generally remains smaller indoors. The ‘Riki’ plant rarely blooms, but when it does, it produces white flowers with a sweet fragrance.
Care
The Dracaena fragrans ‘Riki’ does not require much light and should be placed in a shaded area of the house. Indeed, excessive sun exposure can damage the leaves. The plant requires regular watering, but the soil should dry out between waterings to prevent root rot. Although the ‘Riki’ withstands low air humidity, it is good to occasionally mist the plant with water to increase humidity around it. It is also advisable to fertilize the plant once a month during the growing season.
