Description

Origin
The Dracaena fragrans ‘Riki’ is a tree species native to tropical Africa, particularly the regions of Sudan and Mozambique. This species belongs to the Asparagaceae family. Also known as the Dragon Tree, this plant has a rich history and has been cultivated for centuries for many different uses.

Characteristics

The Dracaena fragrans ‘Riki’ is an air-purifying indoor plant that is distinguished by its narrow leaves and tall growth. The leaves of the ‘Riki’ are shiny, dark green in color, and have a leathery texture. These leaves can reach up to 90 cm in length. The plant can reach a height of 6 meters but generally remains smaller indoors. The ‘Riki’ plant rarely blooms, but when it does, it produces sweet-scented white flowers.

Care

The Dracaena fragrans ‘Riki’ does not require a lot of light and should be placed in a shaded area in the home. In fact, excessive sun exposure can damage the leaves. The plant requires regular watering, but the soil should dry out between waterings to prevent root rot. Although the ‘Riki’ tolerates low air humidity, it is good to occasionally mist the plant with water to increase the humidity around the plant. It is also recommended to fertilize the plant once a month during the growing season.
