Dracaena fragrans ‘Riki’ is a tree species native to tropical Africa, particularly the regions of Sudan and Mozambique. This species belongs to the Asparagaceae family. Also known as Dragon Tree, this plant has a rich history and has been cultivated for centuries for various uses.
Characteristics
Dracaena fragrans ‘Riki’ is an air-purifying indoor plant distinguished by its narrow leaves and tall growth. The ‘Riki’ leaves are glossy, dark green in color, and have a leathery texture. These leaves can reach up to 90 cm in length. The plant can grow up to 6 meters tall, but generally remains smaller indoors. The ‘Riki’ plant rarely flowers, but when it does, it produces fragrant white flowers.
Care
Dracaena fragrans ‘Riki’ does not require much light and should be placed in a shaded spot in the home. Indeed, excessive sun exposure can damage the leaves. The plant requires regular watering, but the soil should dry out between waterings to prevent root rot. Although ‘Riki’ withstands low air humidity, it is good to occasionally mist the plant with water to increase humidity around it. It is also advisable to fertilize the plant once a month during the growing season.
