Dracaena fragrans ‘Riki’ is a tree species native to tropical Africa, particularly the regions of Sudan and Mozambique. This species belongs to the Asparagaceae family. Also known as Dragon Tree, this plant has a rich history and has been cultivated for centuries for many different uses.
Characteristics
Dracaena fragrans ‘Riki’ is an indoor air-purifying plant distinguished by its narrow leaves and tall growth. The leaves of ‘Riki’ are glossy, dark green with a leathery texture. These leaves can reach up to 90 cm in length. The plant can grow up to 6 meters in height but generally remains smaller indoors. The ‘Riki’ plant rarely blooms, but when it does, it produces sweetly scented white flowers.
Care
Dracaena fragrans ‘Riki’ does not require much light and should be placed in a shaded spot in the home. Excessive sun exposure can damage the leaves. The plant requires regular watering, but the potting soil should dry out between waterings to prevent root rot. Although ‘Riki’ can withstand low air humidity, it is beneficial to occasionally spray the plant with water to increase humidity around it. It is also advisable to fertilize the plant once a month during the growing season.
