Dracaena fragrans ‘Riki’ is a species of tree native to tropical Africa, notably the regions of Sudan and Mozambique. This species belongs to the Asparagaceae family. Also known as Dragon Tree, this plant has a rich history and has been cultivated for centuries for many different uses.
Characteristics
Dracaena fragrans ‘Riki’ is an air-purifying indoor plant that stands out with its narrow leaves and tall growth. The leaves of ‘Riki’ are glossy, dark green in color, and have a leathery texture. These leaves can reach up to 90 cm in length. The plant can reach a height of 6 meters, but generally remains smaller indoors. The ‘Riki’ plant rarely flowers, but when it does, it produces white flowers with a sweet fragrance.
Care
Dracaena fragrans ‘Riki’ does not require much light and should be placed in a shaded spot in the house. Excessive sun exposure can indeed damage the leaves. The plant requires regular watering, but the soil must first dry between waterings to prevent root rot. Although ‘Riki’ withstands low air humidity, it’s good to occasionally mist the plant with water to increase humidity around it. It is also recommended to fertilize the plant once a month during the growing season.
